RE: Cleaning tent ends

I used simple green also but the best thing i've done is invest in some pop up gizmos. My tent ends are white so they really help to keep them clean.

RE: Canvas Cleaning Question

I haven't had any mold but I have had some dirt and black streaks caused by the canvas rubbing on the top pole. I removed it with some simple green. I also noticed that the dealer also stocks some mold remover for canvas.

RE: Pop Up Gizmos - Tent End Covers

I have the high wind ones also. With the 5 clips on each side my covers have not moved at all.

RE: Dakota and Jayco 19H

Tow ratings for vehicles for various years can be found at this website. There are many different configurations that affect the rating. http://www.trailerlife.com/output.cfm?id=42175

RE: Yuck Bunk End Latch

Mine are not quite as bad. I thought it might have been the black streak remover or some cleaner that I had used that was causing this.

RE: Greased Lighting for a black srtreak remover?

Never heard of it. I use the black streak remover from Wal-Mart which works quite well.

RE: ROO 23SS JACK KNIFE SOFA

We add a foam topper on the couch when our son uses it. Seems to work pretty good as he hasnt' complained yet.

RE: replacement speakers

I replaced my stock ones with a pair of Sony xplode speakers from Wal-Mart ($55cdn). That made a huge difference in sound quality that the kids even commented on and one of the best upgrade i've done. I really like your Pyle speakers there va_jay55. Much better than the ceiling mount.

RE: Front bunk leaking/Fleetwood dakota 18'

I think have the same bunkend design (07 Dakota 190xp) and I thought water was coming in from the seam because of the standing water. After I caulked all around the ends I still had a small leak and eventually found that water was coming in around the outside marker light and following the wall right up to the top of the buckend. After the sealed the lights properly I haven't had any water.

RE: Minivan towing a Hybrid, the numbers seem to work?

My buddy tows a 2007 Dakota 180xp HTT with a dry weight of just over 2000lbs with his Honda Odyssey minivan with no problems. Before he bought he took the trailer/van to the scales to make sure all was within specs.

RE: First Camping Trip Success!!!!

We also had our first trip of the year. No problems at all except for the rubber seal around the door that hides the screws fell off during transit. It was a little chilly with temperatures hitting about +1c (34f) at night. I installed some popupgizmos and they really made a difference. Much less condensation and much warmer. I had a small electric heater that was able to heat the whole trailer and keep it at about 16-17c (63f) at night. Furnace only kicked in a few times so I saved on my propane usage. Daytime temps reached about 12c (51f) but the heater kept the trailer at a toasty 22c (72f). Hopefully the weather gets a little warmer. Paul Dakota 190xp Photos

RE: Propane in Canada

Every province would have different laws but in Ontario I think you're OK. I searched the highway traffic act and other law and could not find anything except two exerpts below. You're propane needs to be shut off when you gas up. Ontario law is available online. http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/index.html (3) No person shall connect, or permit to be connected, a gasoline or propane fuelling nozzle to the fuel fill point of a vehicle equipped with a propane appliance unless the supply of propane to the main burners and pilot burners of the appliance is shut off. O. Reg. 211/01, s. 25 (3). (4) An operator of a vehicle with a propane appliance installed on it shall shut off, or cause to be shut off, the supply of propane to the main burner and pilot burner of the appliance before a gasoline or propane fuelling nozzle is connected by anyone to the fuel fill point of the vehicle. O. Reg. 211/01, s. 25 (4)

Build Quality

I purchased a new Fleetwood Dakota 190xp last year and I'm a little disappointed with the build quality. After my steps started squeaking I found that the 2 front nuts that hold them to the frame almost came off. While checking for loose screws this spring I found 3 broken screws on the latches that hold the beds up. I occasionally find loose screws and sawdust inside my trailer and have no idea where it's from. One of the screws that holds the oven door fell off. I found 3 nuts that hold the trailer to the frame were almost off also. The wiring underneath the trailer was held up by duct tape but that had come undone so the wiring was just dangling. The wiring for the inside speakers was all backwards. Only the B side was wired and they had all of that reversed. During my spring check I found some water streaks on the inside canvas. I cleaned it up but again found more streaks after a rain storm. While searching for the cause of the leak I found that my marker lights we're very loose and there was missing/inadequate caulking. Water was coming down the roof and into the light. So, the lesson is to check all of your screws and bolts to make sure they are tight and re-caulk any spots that water could be coming in.

RE: Minimum tow capacity for my trailer???

I was also considering a change in tow vehicles to try and save on fuel when I'm not towing but I've found that most SUV's that could pull a decent trailer (Explorer, Trailblazer) don't get any better gas mileage. Based on the new 2008 guidelines for fuel economy my 06 Chev Avalanche is rated at 13 city, 17 hwy. An 08 trailblazer 4x4 (v8) is 13/19 and Ford explorer 4x4 (v6 and v8) were both 13/18. Not much savings there so I'll be keeping the Chev. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/Feg/bymodel/bymakemodelNF.shtml

RE: generator and fridge

My 1000 Watt Honda has the eco-throttle that slows down the motor until it senses a large enough load. Very quiet and fuel efficient. I plug in the generator to the trailer and it runs the fridge, lights, laptop and a separate automatic battery charger all at once without any problems. The noise of the generator changes a bit when the fridge kicks but it doesn't even rev up. I have an 07 Fleetwood Dakota 190xp hybrid with a 2 door full size fridge.
